Worker rights

UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights — adopted in full

Tat Win adopts the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP) as the framework for all labour practices, and applies them day to day.

We manage the most salient human-rights risks through due diligence — detecting them, remediating quickly, and monitoring continuously through worker grievance and feedback mechanisms. The Employer Pays Principle means our company bears all recruitment expenses — workers never pay to work.

How we approach worker rights

We manage human-rights risk through due diligence — identifying the most salient risks, remediating quickly, and monitoring continuously — across our own operations and our supplier and farming network.

  • We manage the most salient human-rights risks through due diligence — identifying them, remediating quickly, and monitoring continuously through worker grievance and feedback mechanisms. Travel documents are never withheld, and workers are free to leave employment at any time.
  • Our policies are firmly against child labour, in line with ILO Core Conventions. We maintain systems to identify and reduce the risk of child labour, focusing diligence where the risk is highest — across our own operations and our smallholder supply network.
  • Employment decisions are based on qualifications and performance. We work to prevent discrimination across hiring, promotion, and termination, and give workers channels to raise concerns.
  • Every Tat Win worker can elect representatives with direct access to management, and can raise issues without fear of retaliation.
  • Tat Win bears 100% of recruitment costs — workers pay nothing to be employed. No recruitment fees, no deposits, no wage deductions for hiring; we operate a zero-recruitment-fee policy and recruit in the country of origin to reduce cross-border risk. Our commitment is published on the IHRB Responsible Recruitment Register.
  • Workers have access to an anonymous physical grievance box alongside direct reporting channels. Grievances are investigated and resolved in a timely, fair manner, with no retaliation for reporting.
